Porsche by Design, a collection of personal perspectives on Porsche, accompanies the first automotive design exhibition at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Editor and guest curator Ken Gross provides detailed descriptions of the twenty-two automobiles in the exhibition. These superlative examples of the signature Porsche design principles – minimalism, aerodynamic fluidity, and technical innovation – illustrate the history of this unique manufacturer, from the 1930s to the present day. The catalogue is illustrated with exquisite photography by Michael Furman, Peter Harholdt, and Art Howard, as well as remarkable images and posters from the Porsche Museum Archives in Stuttgart.

Es gibt eine Menge Bücher über den genialen Auto-Konstrukteur Ferdinand Porsche, aber bisher noch keines ober seine Jugendzeit. Am Beispiel Ferdinand Porsches ist es besonders überraschend, wie aus dem einfachen Schüler und Lehrling durch eigene Strebsamkeit und eiserne Energie ein Mann erwächst, dessen schöpferische Leistungen bis heute spürbar sind. 1875 wurde er als Sohn eines Handwerksmeisters in Maffersdorf geboren und begann im elterlichen Geschäft als Lehrling. Mit Fleiß arbeitete sich der technisch Talentierte empor.

There are a lot of books on the brilliant car designer Ferdinand Porsche, but so far none above his youth. Using the example of Ferdinand Porsche, it is particularly surprising, as man grows from the simple student and apprentice through their own aspiration and iron energy whose creative achievements are felt today.
