Porsche 959 Boxed Set

To the present day, the Porsche 959 is regarded as one of the most exceptional vehicles in automotive history: a technical marvel with its all-wheel drive, a refined biturbo engine, 450 PS and a top speed of 315 km/h – still breathtaking 30 years after its first roll-out.

The idea behind this tour de force was to build a Porsche that fitted the new Group B regulations just established in 1983: the Group B Porsche. The regulations demanded just 200 vehicles for the homologation, that is why Porsche was able to turn the technological knowledge of that time into a super Porsche equally suitable for the race track and for rallies – which was the intention of the new racing car series. Apart from the races, the homologation vehicles were also meant to go to private owners for the use in road traffic.

Jürgen Lewandowski witnessed the development of the Porsche 959 more than 30 years ago and describes the difficult birth of the super car including the three Paris-Dakar rallies and the Le Mans race.

After 30 years, this comprehensive work presents even the minutest details, it comments on events in the past, and contemporary witnesses have their say – all in all it is a literary monument to the Porsche 959.

Die Stuttgarter Oper wurde 2016 zum Opernhaus des Jahres gekürt. Ein Opernhaus mit fantastischen klängen und hervorragenden Darbietungen und Darstellern.

In Stuttgart steht aber noch ein weiteres Klanghaus –                            Das Porsche Museum!

Einmal im Jahr erklingen hier die schönsten Motoren, präsentiert von berühmten Darstellern aus der vergangenen Renngeschichte, komponiert und konstruiert von Meistern ihres Faches.

Einer dieser Meister ist Dipl. – Ing. Hans Metzger. Vater vieler Rennmotoren und damit auch vieler Rennerfolge der Sportwagen Marke  Porsche. Metzger erzählt von der Entwicklung des Porsche Typ 804 und das man damals gerade einmal nur mit vier Mechanikern an der Rennstrecke stand. Der legendäre Dan Gurney, holte mit dem Rennwagen im Jahr 1962 zwei Siege. Das Formel- Auto ist frisch restauriert und in einem wunderschönen Zustand. Die 8 Zylinder lassen das Museum erzittern. Eine Ouvertüre aus den Brennkammern mit 1494cm3 Hubraum. Wer sich die Ohren zuhält verpasst ein einzigartiges Konzert.

RSR – Eine Oper mit 6-Zylindern.

Eckhard Schimpf, Mister Jägermeister, wird vom Porsche Archiv Leiter und Gastgeber der Porsche Sound Night, Dieter Landenberger auf die Bühne geholt. Mit dabei steht ein oranger 911 RSR aus dem Jahr 1973. Schimpf erzählt von seinem ersten RSR mit der typischen Jägermeister Lackierung. Er selber hatte damals viel Spaß auf den Rennstrecken aber auch so gut wie keinen Erfolg. Macht nichts, beim Sound des Wagens schaut er andächtig auf den RSR. Eckhard Schimpf möchte einsteigen und losfahren. So wie in seinen zahlreichen anderen Jägermeister Autos, die er wieder aus aller Welt zu sich holt.

Walter Röhrl und sein 911 SC San Remo.

Einer der besten „Opernsänger“ auf den Straßen dieser Welt. Er ist der bezwinger aller Kurven. Geraden gibt es bei ihm so gut wie keine. Mit dem 911 SC Rallye San Remo aus dem Jahr 1981 zieht er bei dieser Rallye an dem Audi Quattro vorbei und kann nur durch einen Defekt gestoppt werden. Roland Kußmaul, ein Porsche Kollege von Walter Röhrl, unterstreicht die Geschichten mit seinen Anekdoten aus der vergangen Porsche Rennzeit.

Der 936 Spyder.

Direkt vom Porsche Sports-Cup aus Hockenheim kommt die Le Mans–Legende Jürgen Barth rechtzeitig zu seiner Aufführung bei der Porsche Sound Night. Die große Oper von Le Mans ist das Thema: 1977, der Porsche Typ 936 führt, doch ihm fehlen die Außenspiegel, die Kommissare weisen Porsche auf diesen Fehler hin, es droht dem Rennteam eine empfindliche Strafe, man löst das Problem und klebt einfach Spiegel auf das Auto, die völlig ohne nutzen sind. Im Spiegel der Zeit zeigt sich hier auch der Einfallsreichtum den Porsche und seine Mechaniker mit auf die großen Bühnen dieser Welt gebracht haben. Sieg nach 24 Stunden für Ickx, Barth und Haywood.

Ein großer „Singer“.

Norbert Singer, präsentiert den Porsche Typ 935 Moby Dick. Die Endstufe der Entwicklung des 935er. Wie macht man aus gutem noch was besseres. Singer erzählt über die Entwicklung des außergewöhnlichen Rennwagens. Der Sound ist stark. So stark wie 845 PS sein können. 366 Km/h schnell, so schnell das sich die Martini Streifen auf dem Auto schon im Stand in die länge ziehen.
